Snowy night
Last night it snowed, and Solveig and I took a walk through the cemetery. I grabbed my camera on the way out the door, only to discover that the batteries for my flash were dead. So I swapped off my usual lens (the incredibly flexible 18-70mm from the D70 kit) for my trusty 50mm f/1.8.

Getting decent exposures was difficult, since it was night and I was trying to take handheld shots with only the ambient light. I cranked the sensitivity of the camera up to ISO 1600 and opened the aperture all the way up to f/1.8, but that could only do so much. The camera stuggled quite a bit with metering and focusing in the low light, so I ended up doing manual exposure and manual focus for most of these. It was challenging, but fun, and I was happy to get as many decent (not good, but decent) shots as I did.
